The Schleps
One Trunk Theatre Presents…
The Schleps
a comedy series written by Gwendolyn Collins and Andraea Sartison
Putting on independent theatre is not for the faint of heart. You have to do everything yourself which basically involves schlepping things all over the city. It’s a DIY life and you’re your own worst enemy.
About the Show
The Schleps is a comedy series produced by One Trunk Theatre and filmed in July 2021.
“With One Trunk Theatre, and many other side projects, we have schlepped bolts of fabric, doors, animals, canoes, hundreds of milk crates and tiny houses across the city and prairies. We are the schleps. The series is in many ways, our lived experience, and the experience of most artists in Canada - especially independent producers.”

MEET THE TEAM
Brittney Fredrickson
Brittney is an emerging artist born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She recently graduated from the University of Winnipeg’s honours acting program where she developed an intense passion for new and classical theatre. This past year she had the profound privilege of being mentored by the wonderful Michelle Boulet through the Creative Manitoba mentorship program. Together they adapted Shakespearean plays, filmed and edited Michelle and Sarah Constible’s COVID-era Macbeth, and hung out with some rad chickens on Michelle’s farm.
Brittney is overjoyed to be welcomed onto this project. She has had so much fun filming and getting to know the entire One Trunk team. She looks forward to many a future collaboration and hangout.
Delf Gravert
Delf Timschal Gravert is a professional photographer, filmmaker and actor based in Winnipeg. Self-taught, he uses primarily medium and large format film cameras. He runs the Downstairs: Dark Room, as part of an image and sound collective.

Clay Mykietowich
Hiya! My name is Clay! I'm a fibre/textile artist and designer who was born and raised here in Winnipeg. My happy place is wherever I'm able to sit down and create something new, so basically only my house right now.
I have a mild obsession with frogs and I know way too many facts about human anatomy. I'm also the kind of person who loves spending time outdoors and in nature, but I don't have the opportunity to go out as often as I'd like to. I make up for this by climbing trees in my backyard and taking pictures of myself in them.
Zanifa Rasool
Hi I'm Zanifa! I like long walks in the forest, my cat Katie, and plants! I've been studying at the University of Winnipeg for the past 4 years in theatre and film, and this is my first real theatre job. Woohoo! I've primarily done traditional theatre and was recently in a COVID-Edition of 365 Plays/365 Days by Suzan-Lori Parks. I love devised theatre with all my heart and am super excited to be working with One Trunk Theatre this summer.
Jean Van Der Merwe
I was born in sunny South Africa, raised in the land of the living skies (SK) and am currently living in friendly Manitoba. I studied at the University of Manitoba where I obtained both an Undergraduate Degree, and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Music, Vocal Performance. Performing has always brought me immense joy, and I am drawn to so many facets of it, from singing and dancing, to acting, clown, puppetry, and so much more. When I’m not performing, I’m usually found watering my houseplant collection, going for a long walk with a good podcast in my ear, or cuddling with my cat and my boyfriend. I am beyond thrilled to be spending my summer with One Trunk Theatre, telling new stories and finding new ways to engage with my community.
